Dislocation and Instability

If you are hit or impacted at or around one of your joints, this can cause instability. This happens when your joints move or are forced out of their normal position. If you are even more unlucky, this can cause a complete dislocation of the joint. This happens most frequently in the shoulder. Dislocations and joint instability typically cause a lot of pain and make it very hard to raise your arm or move it away from your body. Raising your arm above your head can be extremely uncomfortable because it might feel like it is moving in the wrong way. Treatment for joint pain resulting from this type of injury is pretty straightforward. Our goal is to move your joint back into the correct position and help to stabilize it thereby strengthening the surrounding structures.
