The Carnivore Diet Through a Doctor’s Eyes: Why It Works for Me
By Dr. Yaron Lohr & the Team at Posture Perfect Wellness Center
As a doctor trained in nutrition, functional medicine, and sports performance, I’ve studied every diet trend under the sun. But nothing surprised me more than how powerful the carnivore diet has been in my own life. It goes against much of what we’re taught in school, yet it has helped me feel sharper, stronger, and healthier than ever.
Why I Tried It
For years, I struggled with bloating, joint aches, fatigue, and inconsistent energy — the same complaints I hear from many of my patients. Even though I ate “healthy” with vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains, I still felt off. Out of curiosity, I decided to test the carnivore diet — a plan based on animal proteins and fats, with little to no plant foods.
The Results I Felt
Within days, the changes were noticeable:
-
No more bloating after meals
-
Better sleep and recovery
-
Sharper mental focus and energy
-
Less joint stiffness and body aches
-
A more stable appetite — no sugar crashes or cravings
It wasn’t just a temporary lift — the longer I stuck with it, the more consistent my health became.
But What About Nutrients?
The biggest question I hear is: “Where do you get vitamins like C or calcium?” The answer is that animal-based foods actually provide a lot more than people realize. On top of that, I take carefully chosen supplements (like multivitamins, magnesium, and omega-3s) to cover any gaps. The truth is, most diets require supplementation — carnivore is no different.
Why It Works (Even If It Sounds Strange)
Many people have hidden sensitivities to plant-based foods — even ones considered “healthy.” Things like spinach, broccoli, and legumes contain compounds that can trigger inflammation or digestive stress. By cutting them out, your gut gets a reset. For me (and many others), that reset unlocked better health.
What I Tell Patients
The carnivore diet isn’t for everyone. Some thrive on it, others do better with variety. But if you’re struggling with inflammation, gut issues, or stubborn fatigue, it may be worth exploring under guidance. The key is tailoring your nutrition to your body — not to diet trends or food pyramids.
Final Thoughts
For me, carnivore has been life-changing. I don’t miss the rollercoaster of energy swings or the constant bloating. Instead, I feel steady, sharp, and in control of my health. At Posture Perfect Wellness Center, our goal is to help patients discover what works for their body — whether that’s carnivore, ketogenic, or a balanced anti-inflammatory approach.
Your diet should make you feel better, not worse. If it doesn’t, it might be time to rethink what’s on your plate.
